Learn what makes Elemental Power Tarot special

Inclusivity

Tarot is used as a tool for divination and empowerment by people all over the world, from all walks of life. Traditional illustrations tend to depict people that appear to be of European descent and of binary gender identity.

Elemental Power Tarot invites all people in by taking all people out.

You won’t see any human figures depicted in any of the cards.

The deck is designed to be a world for you to inhabit, not observe.

Rather than looking at The Hermit, you are invited to BE The Hermit, stepping into their world and taking on the characteristics and wisdom of this and all archetypes.

These scenes are yours to inhabit.

These roles are yours to embody.

Elemental focus

The deck is designed around the five classical elements that correspond to the suits - Fire (Wands), Water (Cups), Air (Swords), Earth (Coins), and Spirit (Major Arcana).

Centering the elements in the illustrations allows the reader to consider relationships between elements and numbers and between the elements themselves, presenting a wholistic view of the 78 card system and drawing parallels between like numbers and roles.

Knight of Cups = Fire of Water

Queen of Wands = Water of Fire

Relationships between elemental energies of the court cards are clarified in the illustrations.

…and presented as various hats to wear, court roles are available to all regardless of gender identity.

Apothecary

Each illustration of the Major Arcana contains an apothecary item - something you can eat, drink, anoint yourself with, or have in your home to invite the energy of the card into your life.

Each apothecary item was chosen by Melinda based on her personal experience with spellwork and ritual. Some are rooted in centuries of tradition, some are more modern uses. All were selected with maximum power and ease of use in mind.

The Moon XVIII

Apothecary item: Pumpkin.

Pumpkin carries lunar gifts of introspection and reflection. It can be roasted and eaten as a vegetable or puréed for pie. Even having one in the house for decoration imparts the benefits.

Empowerment

Everything about Elemental Power Tarot, from the style and content of the illustrations to the symbols on the cards and the words in the guide book, is designed to awaken the inherent power that lives within all of us.

This power connects us to our human lineage, to the Earth, Moon, planets, and stars, and to the elements that form the substance of our lives.

It is elemental.

Rohan on working on his first Tarot Deck -

“I've spent my career so far waiting for a tarot deck to come my way. Ive long thought it to be the perfect blend of picture and storytelling, so when Melinda asked me to work on her deck, there was no way i would refuse. And what has been so impressive is seeing how much detail Melinda has brought to the cards, its not a traditional deck, its beautifully measured and inclusive, brimming with positivity and wonder. Concentrating my efforts on such a small area too is something of a distillery of idea and skill, what stays, what goes, composition and detail, all to produce an open message, and important part of a bigger story.
